When you type a document in MS Word, MS Excel, Notepad, etc the physical characteristics of the letters typed in that document represents Font. Windows XP has different types of fonts for example:
- Arial ( True Type )
- Arial Black ( True Type )
- Times New Roman ( True Type )
- Verdana ( True Type )
- Alor Normal ( True Type )
- Whimsy TT ( True Type )
- Symath ( True Type )
How to install new fonts in your PC ?
Now first thing you have to make sure before adding new fonts to your PC is to see that it is designed for Windows.
Now follow the instructions as given in below:
First login to your computer with administrative rights and than click on start button and click on Run option and type %windir%\fonts and press OK button.

Now go to File menu and click on Install New Font option, in the drives box select the drives that contains new fonts ( hard drive, CD-drive or Floppy drive ). If you want to install from the network location, than there is a button called Network click on that.

Now select the new fonts and check the option ‘Copy fonts to Fonts folder‘ and press OK button.

For removing fonts in your PC follow the following instructions:
First login to your computer with administrative rights and than click on start button and click on Run option and type %windir%\fonts and press OK button.
Now select the font that you want to remove and press Ctrl key on the keyboard to select more than one font. Now go to File menu and click on Delete option. You will see aprompt ‘Are you sure you want to delete these fonts?‘, press OK button for the process to finish.
